Michelle Stephens is the Executive Director for LEPAA (Lubbock Entertainment Performing Arts Association) and the Buddy Holly Hall. The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences is a 220,000 square foot performing arts and education campus located in downtown Lubbock. The Hall boasts two theaters, event space, a full-service restaurant and a pre-professional ballet school. Buddy Holly Hall is also home to Ballet Lubbock, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Lubbock ISD Fine Arts and touring Broadway productions.
Nick Dragga is the Executive Director of Ballet Lubbock. Founded in 1969, Ballet Lubbock is a private, nonprofit organization that is a key pre-professional ballet school and company in the South Plains-Eastern New Mexico region. As Ballet Lubbock has grown over the years, they’ve taken up residence in Lubbock High School, the Boys and Girls Club and Lubbock Community Centers. Today, they are enjoying their home as the North East cornerstone of the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences and believe they are just getting started!
In this episode, Michelle and Nick discuss the impact Buddy Holly Hall will have on the future of Lubbock, the struggles of a large-scale construction project during a global pandemic and the generosity of the people of West Texas.
