March 2, 2022
March is National Credit Education Month! We know, we know, that probably doesn’t sound like a whole lot of fun, but your credit is important. And as your financial partner, we want to help you stay on top of your credit. Being in control of your credit starts with checking your credit. Did you know that a 2021 study by Consumer Reports found that more than 1/3 of consumers found mistakes on their credit reports? From unrecognized accounts, to wrongly reported missing or late payments, a mistake on your credit report can really make a difference and it’s more common than you would think! Armed with this information, Credit Education Month is the perfect time to check your credit report and be sure that all the reported information is correct. With SavvyMoney, you can quickly and easily view your credit score and full credit report right from your DIGITAL BANKING+ dashboard. There’s no need to log in to a separate website and pay to pull your credit report—it’s right at your fingertips! If you find a mistake on your report, you should dispute it right away. Disputes can be done online, by phone or by mail through each credit bureau. We encourage you to make time this month to check your credit score and to review your credit report. You’ll be doing yourself a favor in the long run. If you have questions about your credit score, credit report or building your credit feel free to stop into a First United Banking Center to visit with a loan officer or call us at (855) FUB-STAR (382-7827.) Happy Credit Education Month!
